Hello Matthew!

It’s time to welcome a new member of the Church Hosting server family, Church, Fellowship, and Matthew is the latest in the Church Hosting Fleet.

The naming convention suggested by Keith M. on Facebook, it’s one of two new servers coming to serve churches, and it’ll be ready for use technically today. I had planned to really dig into it and fine tune another 24 hours, but another outage on Fellowship is kicking those plans into action now. This does not mean the server is not ready, just means some performance improvements will be done over a 24 hour period as we settle in – it actually helps give a more realistic set of stats to tune up with – so really a good thing.

All the services and features you know will be there – packages have been copied over from Church & Fellowship so all your features and functions work, software like Softoculous, Sitepad, Let’s Encrypt etc. have all been installed and ready for your use! Even some new performance/security tweaks which were slated for upgrades to all servers the first part of 2019, will be added, so more secure, fewer headaches. Good stuff.

So in an effort to keep folks running smoothly, I’m looking for a max of 20 sites who are up for moving to this new server, that means leaving Church or Fellowship behind for Matthew – the move is painless and simply requires a quick swap on your DNS, if it’s hosted with FlockHosting’s DNS servers even easier still! Looking at maybe a 5-minute window and you’ll be 100% migrated to the new server.

Want in? Quite simply open a trouble ticket and let me know you’d like to move! However, once I hit 20 sites, that’ll be it. I want to keep the moves simple and clean. Now there are more moves in the future – another server is planned (Code Name: 1 of 4 Gospels, leaning towards Luke) + Fellowship and Church will also be re-created so, in the end, you’ll move eventually and things will balance out across all 4 servers – so hang tight! My hope is these 20 will help lighten the load we are having lately and keep things running as smoothly as possible for those remaining on Fellowship/Church for the time being.

Thank you all again for your patience! More tune-ups are coming too for Lilly & Grace very soon! Plus if all goes smoothly, a much-requested feature will be added called “Church Email Hosting” as some churches have requested email-only, but it’s still in testing, and still trying to stir up some funds to do things like mail deliverability and such and not completely break the bank or leave folks with issues sending. So stay tuned!

Migration is a Go!

So if you recently watched the recent FlockUpdate you’ll know that Church Hosting has a migration planned, I’d actually sent out a note to folks using Church Hosting about a week back, and tonight I sent out the news of the date – This Friday starting at 10 PM.

Turn around is quick, not going to be a huge deal, again this should go quickly, even right now syncing in the newest sign-ups for Church Hosting who’ve been cleared and setup! This is going to be flawless! I’ve run test after test, this is the 3rd sync only having to update 1GB last time! So hoping to keep it up to date so once I finish the last sync, I simply search and replace DNS references of the old IP’s and it’s done. 5 minutes later everyone will be online!

If you for some strange reason didn’t get a note about the move (Please check your spam or Update your email address on file!), but to save you the hassle of asking for a resending of the email, here are the IP’s:

New Church IP: 142.54.180.243 (Old IP: 67.205.161.18)
New Fellowship IP: 142.54.180.244 (Old IP: 138.68.47.120)

This is only needed if you are using your own DNS servers and not FlockHosting’s FH1/FH2.FLOCKHOSTING.COM nameservers – for most this should be nothing needed, but those of you who are making this switch before you go to bed on Friday and in the morning Saturday you’ll be on a new server.

Please also shut down email clients, browsers and restart your phone in the morning (If you are using Email) this should help completely eliminate caching issues.

If you have ANY questions please drop a line in LiveChat, Trouble Ticket, or Email me directly! Here to help!

Hello 2016!

Greetings!

So here we are at 2016 and already working to get things moving and grooving! While I could outline everything in this post alone, I do want to save some for the FlockUpdate.  This month’s episode which will sport some better lighting & new mic for better sound! If my phone cooperates 4K video (oooh…. ahh) So stay tuned for that!

Some quick notes though that I wanted to get out there for everyone:

  • Web servers are all upgraded and secured! New versions of PHP & Apache deployed, enjoy the improvements!
  • Some over-protective rules made their way into the application firewall. They were causing hiccups, rules sorted and running smoother!
  • Weebly – Full story soon, but minor delays – if you sign-up I can “in theory” activate ya. If not please bear with me, reaching out to Weebly. By the FlockUpdate time, I hope to have a full update and active service!

That’s just a few things I wanted to get rolling. Later this month an all new FlockHosting.com will be coming! A new look, new content, and more ways to save! So stay tuned!
