Fellowship Migration to Fellowship

While I’m still accepting transfers from Fellowship -> Matthew, I am moving forward with a migration of Fellowship -> Fellowship. Yes, the same name. I know. Confusing.

Matthew was deployed and took the load off, however, the attacks are continuing, and Church Hosting is continuing to grow so Matthew actually has brand-new churches online! So things are continuing to grow! But the last two days showed another range of attacks on the server hitting WordPress sites pretty hard, plus the usual crawlers coming to index for Google and Bing – so busy mornings took the server to the brink.

I hate having you guys losing access to mail and other resources you rely on day-to-day for Church Use! Prayer requests boards, email, a website with CRM data, etc. you guys do some amazing things with the hosting and I hate for it to be offline while you are in most cases starting your day! And not to mention I do like to sleep now and again¬†ūüėĄ

So to that end, Fellowship is going to be moving this ASAP. I’d love to just push a button and have everyone be done and moved, however, this move can potentially¬†break things for churches and create more problems, so the goal is very few problems.

What will happen that you might need to make changes on? IP Address – that’s it.

For most of you, you have bookmarked fellowship.flockhosting.com URL’s for Webmail, cPanel, and in your email configuration for IMAP/POP3/SMTP – so you have everything in place, but if you do manage your own DNS you will need to make a change of IP to keep your domain/email alive and functioning.

I’ve created a discussion thread if you want to ask questions in the migration and to track whats happening!¬† Right now I’m planning on the migration starting Monday Night (09/03/2018) but if you are worried about stability for this coming Sunday please open a ticket today¬†and let me know, we can move you to Matthew and give you greater stability so you’re not having issues on Sunday Morning!

Church Hosting Growth

Over a year ago FlockHosting’s State of the Server¬†painted the migration of servers. In the case of Church Hosting it combined Fellowship and Koinonia into 1 server: Church.

Well it has been a year and those combined servers and about 75 churches more, Church is full! While the tech behind the server could support another 100 sites or so, I want room for every account to grow.

The joy of Church Hosting is getting emails like this:

“Hi,

We are getting notices that we have reached our limits, how much does it cost to get more storage for our site?”

Of course there is my favorite reply:

“Hello!

I have increased the storage! Enjoy and please let me know if you need anything else!”

Church Hosting is about being a blessing to churches. No costly hosting, no big bills. Free. And that’s how I’d love to keep it!

I currently have a few more expenses that are big priorities, big one is the little girl sleeping to my right. She’s not always the most affordable, but she’s pretty cute and I love her to pieces.

So I am looking for a little help. There are a few options in how you can help get things running again sooner than later for churches! With 2 folks already in the wings asking “When can we launch?” your help can be huge right now to help churches far and wide get their sites online.

Few ways you can help:

  • Become a Founder – I have 2¬†1 spot left. 2¬†1. You become part of an exclusive group with savings on all other products. Your hosting package is lifetime hosting. Be one of the final 10 – and wait for more things planned for the Founders.
  • Donate to Help¬†– If you can spare some funds to help springboard us, it’d be an amazing help! Even $5 can get things one step closer to lighting up the new hardware and coming online!

I do hope to have a full-fledged crowd funding setup, but for now if you could be so bold and be a founder, that’d help! If you can donate any amount, that helps too!

Church Hosting has blessed a great number of churches who were paying $15 a month or more! That means the church has a spare $180 in their pocket a year! Imagine that $180 going to benevolence, or helping send a kid to camp! A husband or wife to a men’s/women’s conference! Let FlockHosting handle the hosting, you handle your Flock!

Help me help churches around the world! Be a part of getting things running again!

It’s a Joy!

It's Ready! How do I explain how amazingly awesome this image is?

For some of the folks using Church Hosting I know it’s simply a free service – nothing to it, use it, get online – piece of cake, the man behind the curtain isn’t a thought – but I wanted to share my heart a bit on what Church Hosting growth means to Me.

I know I go on and on about it’s importance of saving churches money and helping spread the gospel online, but this is a HUGE blessing to me to be able to serve churches! I reached out to church host’ers and go some fun feedback, everything from big thanks, the “ok” to post their website on FlockHosting’s upcoming update to Church Hosting pages, to even HUGE requests for possibly helping manage entire groups of Churches and one even let me know that they are putting out the word to “about 700 churches” – only 700… No big deal (starts praying now!)

free-churchGod is Good people! I know for some this makes NO sense, why I’d give away a service, why I’d support it end to end with help managing WordPress and tutorials on how to get things updated and managed smoothly, I’ve even helped here and there with design and doing updates/upgrades and more – Why? It’s what FlockHosting has been doing since day one. Helping people is what I love doing, ¬†I even do it for paying customers too at no charge! It’s a blessing to serve!

So things with the new server “Fellowship” are ready to go! What all does that entail?

  • DNS Cluster all sync’d up and ready to add new domains!
  • Added to the Billing System for Easy Setups for Customers & Ease of Getting Support!
  • Softaculous Auto-Installer Licensed and Installed
  • SSL Certificate setup for cPanel, FTP, IMAP, POP3 and Webmail
  • New Anti-Spam Solution with good results!
  • Latest WordPress ready to be installed for Churches!
  • 24/7 Remote Monitoring
  • Nightly Backups Configured

And that’s just the basics! More to come! I’m excited as folks are getting in touch with me about “Can you do this?” or “Will Software X work?” and where the answer is “not right now” that’s just it, right now is but a moment!¬†Growth for the future is on the horizon and “not right now” will transform into “right now”!

A BIG request coming in lately is “Do you do JUST email?” – I want to say yes, but as it stands – I’m not ready just yet, but soon! Already begun looking at BIG mail appliances to handle Email Filtering (both incoming & outgoing) so I can help keep things running without a server on a blacklist constantly – and ensure folks are using the email service for GOOD not EVIL! So stay tuned!

So keep FlockHosting in your prayers, some fun is un-rolling here, and Church Hosting will have a fundraiser here soon which will help fund the next few big jumps in church hosting! With 700+ churches getting the word from a trusted source… I may need to learn to drink coffee! ūüôā

Have a BLESSED weekend all! And thanks for spreading the word!
